La Folie is a short documentary created as part of Winkelverhalen, a film installation composed of seven film portraits of characteristic shops in the city of ’s-Hertogenbosch. Presented at Erfgoed ’s-Hertogenbosch, the installation brings together filmmakers who each portray a local store, revealing how these places function as informal meeting points within the everyday life of the city.
In this film, Julia focuses on the antique shop La Folie. Rather than simply documenting the store, the film observes it as a space where objects, memories, and personal histories accumulate over time. Within the installation, the portrait of La Folie becomes part of a collective narrative about the role of small, independent shops in shaping the cultural identity and social fabric of the city.
The film is presented below. Originally part of a film installation, the work begins approximately ten minutes into the video.
